July 2017 Th!nk Magazine – Gaining a Heavenly Perspective

Wow! I can’t believe it’s already July. How have you been? What have you been up to? Well, for us here at Th!nk, we’ve been busy celebrating our 4th year anniversary and putting a lot of work into this edition! We hope you enjoy it!

This month’s theme is on having a heavenly perspective. We can often get caught up in the things of the world, but we need to realize that those things will fade away. The only thing that truly matters is our relationship with Jesus. When having a heavenly perspective, we focus our attention on our future in heaven. Read on to see how in more practical ways!

No, I’m serious, I do actually want to know :). Sometimes our stories feel boring, unimportant, or hard to tell. Sometimes we feel self-conscience or reluctant. Crazy Braids- Bandana Curls

Crazy Braids

Bandanas used to make Curls

Crazy Braids July

What you need:

  • Damp Hair
  • 3- 4 Bandana
  • 3-4 hair ties

Recommended to do this right before bed so you can sleep with the bandanas in.

What you do:

Separate all your hair into three or four sections. Take your bandana and fold it so that it’s in a rectangle. Take one of your sections and separate it into two. Put the bandana between them and start braiding. Tie it off with a hair tie. Do the same with the others. Now you’re ready to go to sleep. When you wake up, take out your bandanas and shake your hair so that your hair can separate and get great curls. When you like the look you can stop.

Never brush through your hair, it will waste  all your time! Now you have great curls for your day!

Crazy Braids-Fishtail

Crazy Braids

How to Fishtail

Time: 4-7 minutes

For long/medium hair

Step 1- Split your hair into two and make sure they’re the same size.

Step 2- Take a small strand from the “outside” of either side and put it into the “inside” of the opposite one.

Step 3- Take a small strand from the side you didn’t take hair from and put it in the “inside” of the opposite one.

Step 4- Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you can fishtail any more hair.

Step 5- Secure with a hair tie

Step 6- I like to have my fishtails not so tight so I pull it gently on each side.

Tips:

  • Takes a lot longer than a regular braid
  • When you first start the fishtail, you won’t be able to see the actual fishtail until later.
  • The smaller the strand of hair, the longer it will take to make the fishtail, but it will be more detailed.

Crazy Braids- All Star Braids

Crazy Braids

This month’s hairstyle is simple and easy. You can do it to yourself or to others. It is called All Star Braids.

Needed:
•6 clear hair rubber bands

•2 regular hair ties

How To Do It:

1.Separate hair into six sections.

2.Braid each section separately, and secure them with clear hair rubber bands. We didn’t use clear ones in the picture because we were doing it on a doll but I personally think it looks better with clear rubber bands.

3.Take three braids and tie them together at the top using the regular hair ties.

4.Do this with the other three.

Ta-da!! You have All Star Braids!!

Or, you could also tie the groups of three braids together at the bottom as well:

What are your favorite hair styles? Share it with us and maybe it will be in our next magazine!

This month, we wanted to include some hair tips. Here they are below:

•Depending on what type of skin you have, you can sometimes tell what type of hair you have. For example, if you have dry skin, you might have dry hair. Or if you have oily skin, you might have oily hair.

•It is not good to use a hair straightener & curler every morning because it can damage your hair. Think of your hair as your face. Just think, would you like however much heat on your face everyday as you put on your hair? Probably not.

•Be happy with how God created your hair. Whether its straight, short, curly, thin, or thick. You can always find cool hairstyles that fit the type of hair you have. Anyway, it’s a lot easier to not play around and mess up your hair,

•Don’t think your hair should be how others have it in magazines. It probably costs a lot of money anyway. It’s not like we need to look “cool” around others and make them notice us. There is no point since true beauty comes from the inside.

•When you braid your hair, be sure not to make it too tight. It can damage your hair and apply too much pressure to your hair.

Do you have any helpful hair tips or ideas? If so, please tell us in your comments.

Crazy Braids-Lace Braid Twist

Crazy Braids

This month’s hairstyle is a twist. It is possible to do to yourself but your arms get tired after a while. This hairstyle works with many types of hair, depending on how you use it.

  1. First separate a section on the side of brushed hair as shown in the picture.

  2. Now separate that section into two.

  3. Twist the two together once and then add hair to the strand closest to your (or whoever’s it is) head.

  4. Now twist it again and add hair to the other strand which should now be the one closest to you head.

  5. Repeat steps 3-4 using the hair on the bottom of your head until you get to the other side of you head.

6. Once you get to the other side of you head stop twisting and grab all

of the remaining hair and braid it into a side braid.

Tips & Ideas

You could also do the same thing using the hair more in the middle (not the bottom) and just stop when you get to the middle of your head. This is the best thing to do if you have short hair.

Crazy Braids- Triple-Braided Tieback

Learn how to do the triple-braided tieback

You Will Need:
3 – 7 hair ties

First, part your hair right at you ear tips on both sides. Put any other hair
in a ponytail if you would like.

Next, separate each side into three even pieces and secure each with a hair tie.

Using the one piece of hair you separated, make a simple braid going straight down. It’s length should be as long as it would take to reach the middle of your head. Continue doing this with the other pieces of hair. Now you can take your other hair out of the ponytail now.

Next, take the top pieces and fit it around your head and secure with a hair tie. Then, take the middle braids and do the same but leave a little space between it and the braids above it. Lastly, do the same with the bottom braids and tie them with a hair tie.

We found this hair style at http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com
I would definitely recommend looking at their other hair styles.

This month we are going to teach you how to do two really easy hairstyles that you could possibly do to yourself. One is called a knotted pullback. It is really easy and quick. If you look in the special thanks section in this magazine there is a link to a website where you can go to see a video on how to do this. On the same website there is a video for the other hairstyle we are going to teach you, we are calling a flipped ponytail. You can do this one two ways.

Crazy Braids

Flipped ponytail
1.
So for this hairstyle you will need to start with just a normal ponytail.

2.
Loosen your ponytail just a little bit until you can fit two fingers through the hair like in the picture below:

3.
This is where you will doing something a little bit different depending on which way you want to do your hair. The first way you can do it is to slide your thumb and your pointer finger from underneath you pony tail up through you hair as shown in the picture above.

1.
grab the ‘tail part of your ponytail with those two fingers as you can see in the picture below:

2.
Pull the ‘tail’ through with you fingers as you can see in the picture below:

3.
Now you can tighten your ponytail.. . .

. . . and ta-da! you have your flipped ponytail. you can add to it by putting another hair tie in and doing it again. If you go to cutegirlshairstyles.com there is a video to explain that part better:
1.
The Other way you can do this hairstyle is to Do the same exact thing but instead of pulling your ‘tail’ through from the bottom you pull it through from the top. If you do it this way it looks a little bit different but it keeps your hair off your neck more.

Tip: There is something you can buy called a topsy tail tool. On the website we mentioned earlier there is instructions on how to use it for this.
