Romans 13:1 NIV says, Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
I am sure you hear about people being punished by communists, Muslims and others for practicing Christianity. So yes, sometimes you shouldn’t do everything some governments say to you to do; there are many stories in the bible about how the apostles were thrown into prison, beaten, and yet they still did the opposite of what their leaders were telling them to do. They did this because what they were told to do by man wasn’t what God told them to do. And so they chose what was best: obeying God. In their letters in the Bible though, they tell you to submit to authorities. How can they say one thing and do the other? They mean to only disobey people when it is disobeying God to do so. Otherwise you should submit to governments and do what they say. Some governments don’t deserve this it seems but you should remember this verse; God put them in this place of power for a reason and you have no right to question that, instead submit and obey and pray. Pray for leaders whose thinking is corrupt even if you don’t think they deserve mercy neither do you., God loves you both and created you both. Just imagine the difference those changed leaders might make when they get saved. Look at King Nebuchadnezzar in the Bible who was won over by Daniel’s faith.
