Ask Ainsley-January 2014

Ask Ainsley

Ask Ainsley is where readers send their questions to Ainsley, and she answers them.

Dear Ainsley,

One of the Christmas presents I got, I don’t want because I know I won’t use it. But I really don’t want to hurt the person’s feelings who got/made me the present. What should I do?

Dear Th!nk Reader,

I can understand how you feel and I know a lot of people can relate to this. I think you need to realize how much thought was put into the gift. The person who got/made the gift, was thinking of you. They love you so much and care about you. You don’t have to use the present you got, but tell them how much you appreciate their thought and time. If the present is homemade, you can be proud to wear that object because you realize that your relative made it especially for you. If you really don’t want the present not including homemade ones, you could use it as a white elephant gift for next year. I know this isn’t the best idea but really think before you do this. I hope this helps!

Dear Ainsley,

I recently went to church and there it was talking about if you had a real relationship with God. After hearing this sermon, I was questioning if I had a good relationship or even a relationship to begin with. How can you tell if you have a good relationship with God? What can you do to have a good relationship with God?

Dear Th!nk Reader,

It is really hard to have a good relationship with God because He can’t live with sin and we are nothing but sin. Because of His great love though, there is a way. The first way you can tell your relationship with God, is if you have accepted Him into your life. Most people do this when they are very young , but do you think they really understand it? It is very hard to understand God even as an adult because He is supernatural and what he does is supernatural. After accepting God, you need to grow your relationship by learning more about who God is. You can do this by reading the Bible or doing a devotion. It would be great if you could start off every morning like this! After that, you put your entire trust in God and choose to live every day with and for God. You will also need to repent and ask for forgiveness when you sin to Him. John 1:10-13 ESV says “He was in the world, and the world was made through him (because he lived on earth (John 3:16)- My words are in parentheses), yet the world did not know(understand/believe in) him. He came to his own, and his own people(The Jews and others) did not receive him. But to all who did receive(accepted) him, who believed in his name (they had faith in Him) ,he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor(or) of the will of the flesh(the battle against what our bodies long for) nor of the will of man(the battle against the worldly things), but of God.”This means that if you believe in God and have a relationship with him, that you are a child of God and you are from God. Also read John 1:12 and James 4:8.
