Polar Bear

Scientific Name: Ursus maritimus

Lifespan: The average is 15-18 years, the oldest recorded was 42 years.

Where They Live: Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Russia and Norway

Characteristics:

Male adult Polar Bears can get to about 240-300 cm in length, and females can get in length to around 180-240 cm. Females normally weigh 330 to 650 pounds, Males on the other hand way around 775 to 1,200 pounds. Female Polar bears most likely have twins. Polar bears diets usually consist of seals.

Status:

Polar Bears status is Vulnerable. Scientists, in 2008, estimated for the population to be around 20,000 to 25,000 of them.
